East Coast Railway (ECoR) is seeking applications from skilled and experienced dental practitioners for the position of Part-Time Dental Surgeon (PTDS) on a contractual basis at the Divisional Railway Hospital (DRH), Khurda Road. This engagement is for a duration of one year, with a commitment of 4 hours duty per day, 6 days a week. The contract is renewable annually based on administrative needs and mutual consent but cannot exceed 5 years or continue beyond the appointment of regular Indian Railway Health Service (IRHS) doctors or availability of a similar scheme.
The engagement aims to supplement the existing medical workforce to provide timely dental care to railway beneficiaries. Candidates with government or reputed private hospital experience will be given preference. The appointment is purely contractual and does not confer any claim for permanent employment or continuity beyond the contract period.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification:
- Candidates must possess a minimum qualification of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) with at least 3 years of working experience, or
- Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) degree with compulsory rotatory internship completed.
Registration:
- Applicants should hold valid registration with the Dental Council of India or the Dental Council of their respective state.
Experience:
- Preference will be given to candidates who have prior work experience in Government hospitals or reputed private healthcare institutions.
Age Limit:
- General category candidates should not exceed 53 years of age as on 1st June 2025.
- SC/ST candidates are eligible for an age relaxation of 5 years, while OBC candidates are granted a relaxation of 3 years.
- For retired Railway doctors or retired Government medical doctors from State or Central Governments, age limit is relaxed up to 65 years as on 1st June 2025.
Remuneration and Benefits
- The monthly remuneration for the Part-Time Dental Surgeon will be ₹36,900/- inclusive of House Rent Allowance (HRA) and Transport Allowance.
- A deduction of ₹1,230/- per day will be made for any absence beyond the allowed eligibility.
- Retired Railway doctors or retired Government medical doctors will have their remuneration structured as per Railway Board guidelines ensuring that their total pension plus contractual remuneration does not exceed their last pay drawn at the time of retirement. No Dearness Allowance or other regular Railway servant benefits are admissible.
- Normally, Sundays and National holidays will be off.
- If Railway accommodation is provided, a license fee or rent equivalent amount will be deducted from the monthly remuneration.
- Upon successful completion of one year of service, the selected candidate will be eligible for one complimentary first-class railway pass for self and family annually. Retired Railway doctors engaged as PTDS will not be eligible for Railway Privilege Passes or PTOs, but duty passes will be provided for official outstation duties.
Selection Process
- Selection will be made through a Walk-in-Interview process. Candidates will be assessed for suitability based on their qualifications, experience, and overall merit.
- The final panel will be prepared based on the aggregate marks obtained by candidates during the interview.
- Merely appearing for the interview does not guarantee selection. The Railway Administration retains the authority to approve or decline any or all applications without providing any justification.
- No communication will be made to unsuccessful candidates.

- Eligible and willing candidates should appear in person on the date of the Walk-in Interview at the Divisional Railway Hospital, Khurda Road.
- Applicants are required to present the following documents in original, accompanied by self-attested photocopies:
- Date of Birth certificate
- Educational qualification certificates (BDS/MDS degree certificates)
- Experience certificates (if applicable)
- Registration certificate with Dental Council of India or State Dental Council
- Two recent passport-sized photographs
- Community certificate (for SC/ST/OBC candidates claiming age relaxation)
- Retired medical professionals should also carry the original copies of their Pension Payment Order (PPO), Service Certificate, and Last Pay Certificate (LPC), along with attested photocopies of all relevant documents.
